Sezen Aksu, one of the most prominent and respected artists of Türkiye, has established a 5,000-sapling memorial forest in memory of her close friend Egemen Bostancı, who passed away in 1986. The forest, located in Yeniyurt district of Kilis province, was created through the TEMA Foundation in collaboration with the Directorate General of Forestry, and oak saplings were planted in the area.
In 2008, Sezen Aksu donated 4 thousand saplings to the Antalya Döşemealtı field through the TEMA Foundation in the names of valuable musicians Şerif Yüzbaşıoğlu, Onno Tunç and Uzay Heparı, and 5 thousand saplings to the Manisa Salihli Gökköy field with some proceeds of her concerts throughout 2013.
In addition, Aksu donated 5 thousand saplings for each of the fields Balıkesir Kepsut in 2015 in memory of songwriter Aysel Gürel, in Denizli Çal and Sundurlu in 2018 in memory of Adile Naşit, in Tekirdağ Kızılcaterzi in 2019 in memory of Meral Okay, in Gaziantep Atmalı in 2021 in memory of Attila Özdemiroğlu, in 2022 6 thousand saplings for Kırklareli Osmancık in memory of Oğuz Aral and finally 5 thousand saplings for Kırklareli Celaliye in 2023 in memory of Yaşar Gaga. With Egemen Bostancı Memorial Forest, the number of saplings in a total of 9 different memorial forests created with the contributions of Sezen Aksu has reached 45 thousand.
