Middle School TEMA Education Program

The Middle School TEMA Education Program is designed for children at the middle school level and is implemented throughout the academic year within the scope of different courses and club activities. The Education Program, which started its first field implementations in 1996 and was renamed Middle School TEMA in 2014, is carried out by volunteer teachers in cooperation with the Ministry of National Education. In 2018, the content and scope of the Middle School TEMA Education Program was completely renewed.

Scope/Goals

The program, whose main aim is to raise children's awareness on ecological literacy, aims to contribute to children becoming individuals who develop empathy with other living things in nature and are aware of how their choices in daily life affect nature. The program, which is prepared with an interdisciplinary approach, also aims to connect children with nature by focusing on activities that allow them to meet with nature. Within the scope of the program implemented in 81 provinces of Turkey, there are 48 activity suggestions in total, 42 face-to-face and 6 online activities.

Activities

Within the scope of the program, teachers are provided with a teacher guide containing detailed activity plans so that volunteer teachers can easily implement the activities. Teachers can also access all training content and materials digitally through the Education Portal (e-tema.org).
