About the Project

Launched in 2018 in cooperation with the Ministry of National Education and with the support of IKEA Turkey, The Earth is Our Home Project aims to help primary school children think about the concept of sustainability and raise awareness about saving behaviours they can do at home.

Scope/Goals

In the project, which includes classroom education activities for primary school students, in-store education practices for IKEA customers and a game-based digital activity, classroom education activities are carried out in 30 provinces and in-store practices are carried out in 5 provinces, namely Istanbul, Ankara, Izmir, Bursa and Antalya.

Educational Activities

In line with the project purpose, educational content and materials have been developed to enable children to think about the concept of sustainability, to gain awareness about saving behaviours they can do at home and to carry this awareness home. Within the scope of the project, in addition to educational materials such as posters and worksheets prepared for primary school children and short-term activities supported by fun games, a fun game-based digital activity was designed to reach more children.

In addition to in-class activities, educational activities were also implemented in certain IKEA stores.

What Have We Done So Far?

Within the scope of the project, activities were designed and implemented for schools and IKEA stores in 5 provinces of Turkey. By the fourth year of the project, a total of 17,500 children had been reached, including approximately 16,000 children in 30 provinces through educational activities in schools and 1,500 children through activities in IKEA stores.
