|In order to show practical and innovative ways to combat soil erosion and natural habitats loss, we design and implement demonstration projects on sustainable rural development, reforestation, biodiversity protection and combating desertification.
TEMA has implemented over 100 demonstration projects on sustainable rural development, reforestation, biodiversity conservation and sustainable land management across the country.
Reforestation projects aim to regain the green cover, wildlife and ecosystem health while achieving carbon sequestration.
Sustainable rural development projects aim to promote sustainable land management through introduction of ecological agricultural practices that protect the soil and plant cover in forests, pastures and farmlands.
Biodiversity conservation projects focus on forest ecosystems in Northern Turkey.
We implement reforestation, afforestation, carbon sequestration in areas subject to erosion, in order to regain the green cover, wild life and ecosystem health. We have planted more than 4, 4 million saplings over an area of 3916 hectares under 66 different reforestation projects through the sponsorship of individuals, institutions and private companies. The foundation, with the support of the Ministry of Environment and Forestry has planted 4.967.350 trees by 2009.
Rural Development Projects
TEMA believes that poverty alleviation in rural areas is indispensable in order to combat erosion. Therefore, creating alternative income resources for the community and increasing the agricultural production capacity are essential. Rural development projects aim to achieve the sustainable development while preventing erosion and protecting the environment.
Our sustainable rural development projects aim to achieve sustainable development while preventing erosion and protecting the environment, through creating environmentally friendly income opportunities for the rural community. Beekeeping, production of fodder crops, improvement of livestock breeding, introduction of good agricultural practices, eco-tourism, grazeland rehabilitation, fruitculture, horticulture, reforestation and training on social and technical issues are the activities in our projects.
