Visas
KAZAKHSTAN
Bryan got his Kazakhstan visa
in Istanbul in Feb. 08. Gizem didn't need one because of her Turkish Passport. Process was pretty simple once I found the office. None of the addresses on the internet were correct. Submitted my application, went to the bank on Florya Cd. up the hill to pay, then returned to the embassy to pick up my visa. You have to specify the exact dates of travel so you can get the visa way in advance. Here's the map:
Easiest way to get there from Eminonu is to take the Metro to the Aksaray stop. Get off and head south on Ataturk Blvd. Look for the Yenikapı train station that goes to Florya.
AZERBAIJAN
We both needed visas for Azerbaijan, but Bryan's was $100 and Gizem's was FREE. Easiest way to get there is from Taksim. Take the Metro to Levent 1 and follow the map below:
UZBEKISTAN
We both got Letters of Invitation from Stan Tours. Bryan ended up not needing one as a US citizen, but Gizem needed hers. I think it cost $45 for a Turkish citizen to get an LOI, and it took approximately 7 business days to receive it by email. Print it out and take it with you. Visa costs were $131 for a US citizen and $90 for a Turkish citizen. Must pay US dollars at the Ak Bank on the main street, then go back at 4pm the same day to pick up the visas. Pretty simple.
